Winning dresses for a day at the races

Dresses for the racesStatement Dresses – a race day essential

The key element to race day success is the statement dress; a smart dress that flatters your figure. This is all it takes to be on top form at the races. Don’t go too garish to get noticed (we’ve all seen the celeb faux pas!). Stick to the style you know suits and choose a summery print or shade with shoes that flatter your look without falttening your spirit .

Pick one of our top 3 race-day dress styles to make darn sure you’re this year’s favourite!

1. A Maxi Dress for guaranteed winners

A Maxi Dress flatters most figures and the best thing is you can get away with fancy flat sandals or a mini wedge without looking under-dressed! If a day on your feet fills you with dread, then this is the look for you! There are so many great prints and designs that there’s no doubt there’s a maxi for everyone! Opt for a more luxurious fabric for the top class race day look.

1. Prom Dresses to the rescue

The prom dress is the middle of road for comfort – a sure fire bet that combines the class and femininity of the shift yet allows for a little breathing space with the flared bottom; enhancing without over-exaggerating those curves after a day of indulgence!  You can get away with kitten heels or wedges with this look so add some height and leg shape without too much pain!

3.       The Classic Shift – not for amateurs!

The classic shift is the most reliable item a woman can own; a guaranteed fixture for any race! Renowned for figure flattery and making you feel feminine from head to toe, you’ll look and feel the part. High heels are a must to elongate the legs so be warned, this look isn’t for the faint-hearted. It takes true stamina to pull of the shift and heel glam look (the celebs don’t half make it look easy!). A sneaky trick is to pick a wider heel to spread the weight or a super-high wedge that is much more comfortable than it looks. Plus, you can always take a weight off at the bar – it’s a hard life!

Enjoy your day ladies, whichever look you choose. Oh, and remember, any cash you win can easily be invested back into your wardrobe!

Why are most of the dresses in the Kaleidoscope catalogue have either no sleeves or very short ones? Also most dresses have very low v or scoop neck which are not practical for work. Ladies in their 40’s or 50’s do not always like their arms showing.
