Your Guide To This Party Season’s Winning Cocktails

Ladies, it’s that time of year again. Autumn is here which means Winter is just around the corner and the party season will soon be in full swing. With all the seasonal celebrations, you’re sure to be entertaining guests at some point, and what better way to impress them than with a smoking hot cocktail menu? We’ve hunted out the best winter warming cocktails, which means all you’ll have to worry about for when your guests arrive is choosing from your extensive range of party dresses!

The Candy Cane – a great appetiser

Ingredients:

  • 1 candy cane, crushed for decoration
  • 60ml strawberry vodka
  • 4 dashes of white crème de menthe
  • 150ml cranberry juice
  • Ice cubes

Directions:

Place the crushed candy canes on a small plate, and wet the outside rim of a cold martini glass with an ice cube. Hold the glass by the stem, and rotate the glass lip to cover in crushed candy. Combine the vodka, crème de menthe, cranberry juice and ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain this mixture into a prepared glass and serve immediately.

Ultra Alexander – try as an alternative to desert

Ingredients:

  • 25ml brandy
  • 25ml crème de cacao
  • 1 tablespoon whipped cream
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Ice cubes

Directions:

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice and add the brandy, crème de cacao, whipped cream and syrup. Shake, strain and serve immediately in a glass. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings.

Eggnog Martini (serves 8) – the perfect punch to greet your guests with

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cornflour
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 8 cups semi-skimmed milk
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3 cups brandy

Directions:

Take a large bowl and fill it with ice, covering it with a large sieve. In medium saucepan, off-heat, whisk together sugar, cornflour and nutmeg. Gradually whisk in half of the milk and the egg yolks. Keep whisking on a low heat for 10-12 minutes. Remove from the heat and immediately pour through the sieve into the bowl. Stir in the remaining milk and let this mixture cool in the ice bath. Just before you are about to serve, pour in the brandy and ladle into glasses.
