Outfit of the Day – Holiday Preparation with Lady M Presents

It’s that time of year again – the nights are getting longer, the temperatures are rising and we’re beginning to plan our Summer holiday! Once the flights are booked and the hotel is sorted, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty – holiday fashion!

Editor: What trends will we be rocking on the beach, by the pool or at the cocktail bar this year?

I’m well known for my Breton stripes. It’s a trend that never goes out of fashion and is just perfect for summer. Laid back with shorts for the beach or in a maxi dress and wedges for sunset cocktails. I also love the pastels this season and would team pastel chinos with a white lace top to have a perfect summer outfit.

Editor: You’ve chosen a gorgeous outfit for your #OOTD, why did you choose each item?

You can’t go wrong with a Maxi Dress. I love the embellishment on this dress; it saves you packing chunky jewellery and the print is just fabulous. Wedge shoes are my go to during summer. I need a little extra height but stilleto heels are a no no in the heat. Wedges are perfect for casual as well as smart outfits. Sunglasses – I am constantly losing or breaking sunglasses so I needed a new pair this season and I loved the slightly retro look of the ones I’ve chosen.

Editor: Do you have any styling advice to keep us feeling body confident in the sun?

Earlier this year I had my first spray tan and I have to say that it really boosted my confidence when I was out by the pool in my bikini in Hawaii. Just having a natural looking glow will boost your body confidence. Secondly, choose a bikini or one piece that suits your body shape. Don’t just go with trends for fashion’s sake; know what works for you and you will feel fabulous.

Editor: Which staple clothing items do you take on holiday year after year?

It has to be a maxi dress, cropped leather jacket and wedges. You can have this as a day look for cocktails at the beach bar (without the jacket of course) and can easily transition to the restaurant later in the evening. Plus maxis usually roll up really easily to make packing super quick.

Editor: If you could pick one place in the world to visit this Summer, where would it be?

I’d love to go to Italy. A friend of mine is travelling around at the moment and I’ve very jealous. Rome, Florence, Sorrento. It is just such a picturesque country with amazing cities and fabulous countryside. I’d love to head off there for a month to explore!

Editor: We always leave our holiday packing to the last minute, it’s such a nightmare! Do you have any top luggage packing tips?

My top tip is to pack at least three days before. Work out your outfits day by day and through in a few extra. Then the day before you leave – unpack everything and remove at least three items of clothing and a pair of shoes. Do you really need five pairs of shoes? No. Taking a fresh pair of eyes on your selection will really help build a capsule holiday wardrobe.

Edior: What are your 3 must-have items for the beach?

A great book; I get easily bored on the beach. A kimono style wrap to shield your skin if you get too hot and a huge iced bottle of water to keep hydrated at all times.

All this talk of holidays has got us in the mood for some sunshine! So readers, what do you think of Lady M’s choice of outfit?
