This summer, there are two trends set to be headliners – denim and crochet. Inspired by the 1970s, crochet has a beautiful bohemian feel, and when paired with well-tailored denim, the look is chic and elegant, but with a relaxed feel that’s perfect for your casual wardrobe.
If you want to update your outfits for SS15, read on to discover how to pair denim and crochet to make it work for your style.
Return of the flare
Skinny jeans seem to have been around forever, but Spring Summer 15 sees the triumphant return of the kickflare. A pair of smart bootcut jeans are a key staple for so many outfits, and this pair from our AW15 preview collection will be your wardrobe essential right through until next year, as wide legs are set to be big for winter too. Bootcut and flared jeans are so flattering as they balance out your bottom and thighs with a wider leg. Pair your flares with wedges to really elongate your pins and give your outfit a glamorous finish.
The ‘dressed-down’ dress
Crochet is on our radar every summer, and this year is no different. This crochet lace dress is so elegant – we love the delicate sleeves and round neckline. This dress could easily be glammed up with heels for a more formal garden party or christening, but why not try mixing it with western inspired accessories like this fringe bag and some neutral ankle boots for a look that’s so stylish for every day wear. Finish off the look with this denim jacket – it’s a longer line style and has a drawstring waist to nip you in and flatter your figure.
White and navy
White jeans are one of our favourite summer casual wear pieces, and this cropped pair feature pretty embellishment which makes them great for dressing up or down. To mix with crochet, we’ve styled them with this navy crochet top and added an injection of colour with these stylish block heel mules which look fabulous with jeans, or are perfect for creating a vintage vibe with floor sweeping maxis.
