Top trends for this season’s ladies party wear

Posted In: Fashion

It’s only the beginning of October, but here at Kaleidoscope we are already super excited about choosing our Christmas party wear. Roll onparty wear December, that’s what we say! There’s nothing we like better than donning our favourite party dress and sipping prosecco, whilst surrounded by tinsel. We know that a lot of you will be looking for a new black dress or other party dress to celebrate, so check out our handy guide to the most gorgeous trends in party wear for the festive season.

Colour me happy

There’s nothing to beat a little black dress when it comes to pretty party wear. However, a new party dress in one of this season’s key colours might get close. This year’s colour scheme has a romantic influence to it, with lots of rich hues to choose from. Really fashionable colours are deep reds, clarets, orange (yes, orange!), navy, camel, soft greys and even winter white.

Texture is everything in party wear

What makes party wear for this season so delightful is the wonderful assortment of textures and fabrics. Treat yourself to a party dress in velvet or lace. If you don’t want to go the whole hog, then find a dress which mixes some velvet and lace in with the main fabric. You’ll no doubt have noticed that shearling is everywhere also, especially in ankle boots. Some party shoes even have shearling on them this season. If you want to add a trendy twist to your party outfit, team shearling shoes with a little black dress and a smart cropped tailored jacket for a great mix of textures. Very on trend!

Feathers and furbelows

In keeping with this season’s focus on textures, fake fur and feathers are a popular choice for party wardrobes. There’s fake fur aplenty in the high street and in your favourite home shopping catalogues, whether you’re after a party dress with a fake fur trim or a luxurious coat. Watch out for feathers on little black dresses as well – gorgeous!

Swing out dresses, sister

It’s all about swinging shapes this season. Some of the most fashionable party dresses have big 50s style skirts that you’ll just love to swoosh around in. The 50s was a very feminine decade for fashion and it’s lovely to see this girlie vibe back in vogue. Similarly, capes are the smart coat style this season. They’re also super swingy and a delightful accompaniment to any party dress.

Little black dress

The classic is here to stay, even though colourful dresses are in vogue as well. A good thing too, as you can always rely on your little black dress to make you look super classy. This year’s LBDs incorporate a little sheer material for hint of see-through sexiness: choose a dress that shows a little shoulder or chest rather than anything too revealing! Team it with a fake fur stole or a chiffon scarf and sparkling earrings for a luxurious look.
