How to be comfortable in heels

court shoesHow to be comfortable in heels? Take them off and put on some sensible shoes instead! Well, that’s what your mum might have told you, but that was in the days when high heels meant instantly crippled tootsies. These days, wearing heels doesn’t mean sacrificing your comfort. Simply choose the right shoes and follow in our footsteps with these handy tips.

Size-wise: this might sound obvious, but get heels in the right size for you. Some women love a pair of shoes so much that they’ll get a size up or down if their own size isn’t available. This is a great way to wreck your feet!

Practise makes perfect: do practise wearing, walking and even dancing in your high heels. Not only will this acclimatise your feet to the height, but it will also break in your shoes.

Choose your height wisely: there is a great range of heel heights available so you don’t have to force yourself into five inch heels if you really can’t bear them. Kitten heels are a great way of getting some height and a feminine feel to your outfit without killing your feet.

I have to disagree with one comment here – “break them in”!!! Whilst you are breaking them in, you are giving yourself blisters or worse! Just buy really good shoes in the right size – and don’t spend time slopping around in trainers or flatties and you will be able to carry on wearing heels into your dotage!!! I intend to!
