Preparing for a Wedding Abroad

Preparing for a Wedding Abroad

Posted In: Fashion

If you’re lucky enough to be attending a wedding abroad this summer, you might be wondering where to start with the preparation. While it does take a bit more effort than simply showing up on time, it certainly doesn’t have to be stressful. Allow us to guide you through the process from packing to picking your outfit so you can get on with looking forward to sunshine and celebrations.

Choosing Your Outfit

Light layers and breezy silhouettes are essential for a wedding in the sun. This season’s floaty ruffles and cold shoulder cut outs are perfectly suited to the casual mood of a beach wedding. If the ceremony is in a more formal setting such as a country house or a church, opt for the sophistication of a sleeveless shift or prom dress and capture the holiday spirit with a bold print or a vibrant colour palette. Keeping Cool

Lightweight, fluid fabrics will go a long way to beating the heat but it’s wise to keep a few extras on hand to stay comfortable. A hand held, folding fan will keep you cool during the ceremony without causing distraction, not to mention it will add an elegant touch to your look. A cooling spray is another must; the refreshing mist will hydrate your skin and provide welcome respite from hot weather. And don’t worry about shine- blotting sheets will take care of that without the need to overload your skin with make-up so you’ll feel fresh faced all day.

 Perfect your Packing

Packing your wedding look throws up the problem of dreaded creases. Luckily, there are plenty of tricks for avoiding them. Firstly, plan ahead. Don’t iron your outfit just before you pack. Instead do it the night before and leave it to hang and cool overnight. Next, don’t over pack. Give your clothes plenty of breathing space so they’re not tightly packed and squashed together. If your outfit is jersey or chiffon, consider rolling rather than folding to avoid telltale lines. If you’ve opted for a more structured fabric, loosely fold your garment around tissue paper and place it at the top of your case. And, last but not least, always take a travel iron! No matter how hard you try, creases can happen so it’s best to be prepared.
