evening dress

Dressing up for festive parties is one of the highlights of the holiday season as far as we’re concerned. It’s fun to treat yourself to new ladies fashion and lovely evening dresses and all the accessories to go with them. However, we know that most of you will be tightening your (sparkly) belts this year, so we’ve got some handy tips for you on looking your best for less this holiday season.

Sumptuous evening dresses

When it comes to saving money on evening dresses, there’s one very simple choice to make first of all if you want to be economical. You either buy one magnificent statement piece and accessories, and spend a fair (but not excessive) amount of money on those items, or you spend the same amount of money on two less expensive dresses and more accessories.

The advantage of investing in one key statement item is that you’ll get an evening dress of supreme quality that will probably last you for a few years (an excellent and economical way to collect your ladies’ fashion). You’ll probably have money left over for a just couple of accessory items – say, some earrings and a clutch bag, which means that you’ll basically sport the same look at each festive party you attend. If you’ve only got two or three parties to go to, this is the best way to look marvellous for less.

If you’ve got quite a few parties to attend this season then you’ll probably want to go for the second option. This is to buy a couple of cheaper dresses and leave a fair amount of money left over for a few accessories. For this option, you’ll want to buy a couple of bracelets, a couple of pairs of earrings and one or two evening bags.

Making the most of ladies’ dresses

You can mix and match your look in this way by using different accessories with each dress whenever you go out to a party. With quite a few accessory items and two dresses to choose from, you do in fact have the potential to create about six different looks.

Now for a free (yes, free!) way to get different looks each time, whether you’ve gone for the first or second option. Do your hair and make-up differently each time you wear your evening dress. It really is amazing what a difference this can make – even if you just use a differently coloured eyeliner, or put your hair up in a chignon for a change. Be bold, experiment and enjoy – ’tis the season to go sparkly, after all!

There is of course a third option, which is to add to a ladies dress which may initially look like something quite simple. If you really want to save money this year, but still want to look glam, then it’s time to revamp a little black dress to make a bolder statement. Ladies’ dresses which you would usually save for smart, if not overly formal, occasions, can easily be turned into black tie wonders with the right tights, shoes and accessories.
