Hardy Lupins are a staple perennial for cottage gardens with their tall, stately spires of bloom - a real summer garden classic! Their palmate, sage green leaves create the perfect backdrop for the eye-catching pea-like flowers which reach right to the top of their stems - a stunning summer flowering.

Traditional lupins need a lot of room and can get tall and leggy, but not the Gallery series! Far more compact and robust, they reach just 60 cm tall, yet will still fill your garden with incredible flower power. Perfect for growing in pots and great for creating focal features on patios and decking, you don’t need a garden to get the most out of these amazing perennials.

Flowering throughout June and July, the perfect blooms of Lupin ’Gallery’ open in succession from the bottom of the spire upwards, prolonging the flowering season, and are a magnet to butterflies, bees and other beneficial pollinating insects making your summer garden a haven for wildlife.

Easy to grow and totally winter hardy, these are easy to maintain and make the perfect cottage garden plant - they are perennials so will come back year after year with an ever-increasing amount of blooms.

Plant with other flowering perennials such as Asters, Delphiniums, Agapanthus, Lupins, Poppies, Kniphofia, Primulas and Scabiosa to create a stunning summer display.

Supplied as 3 x established plants in 9 cm pots, ready to plant out. These lupins are easy to grow and care for and will grow to around 60 cm x 60 cm, flowering in June - July.

Note - Plants are dormant from October to March so may show no leaves in the pot during these months.

Care Information

Lupins prefer to be grown in full sun with some afternoon shade to protect them from the heat of the hot, midday sun. Grow in any soil as long as it is free draining and rich in organic matter.

Pot-grown lupins can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen.

Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the plant is in place.

Before planting soaks container-grown plants thoroughly and allows them to drain.

Remove your lupin from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.

Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.

Place your plant in the hole at the same level as the pot.

Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).

Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and then water well.

Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark, etc.
