Petite ladies are brilliant – and that’s not just because yours truly is a mere five foot one. There are many famous, glam and fabulous petite ladies out there, like Kylie, Madonna and Eva Longoria.

It can be tricky, however, to find womens clothing to suit your shape and size. What’s more, you don’t want to chuck on a pair of jeans and trainers only to look like a 12 year old boy. Instead, check out our five top fashion tips for petite ladies.

1. High heels are your best friend. They will elongate your legs and add a sense of proportion to them. Even a kitten heel is better than a flat.

2. Wear trousers and shoes that are the same colour. Again, this elongates the leg. For extra effect, wear straight-legged trousers that really cover your shoes.

3. Crazy all-over patters are best avoided as they will drown you. Choose block colours instead and add pattern-themed interest with carefully chosen accessories.

4. If you wear children’s clothing, you will look like a child, so avoid this even if it is tempting! You’re a woman, so wear womens clothes!

5. If you’re slim and petite, embrace shorter skirts as you are lucky enough to be able to wear them. Whatever your size, make sure your clothes are properly fitted, as this will add proportion to your frame. Baggy clothing looks terrible on petites of any size.
