So where did the shift dress come from?  Well the first silhouette of these elegant dresses were seen in the 1920’s as a new take on the flapper dress. The shift dress became a favourite in our ladies dresses world as they were much more comfortable and easy to dance in for all those 20’s ladies!

It is Hubert de Givenchy who has widely been recognised as the creator of this women’s dress – after all he designed the famous shift dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys!

We love our women’s dresses but the shift dress has remained a staple item in our wardrobe, whether it’s work or play we can always rely on our shift dress to help us in our hour of need!

How to wear your shift dress

A block colour will work wonders for a range of occasions – from drinks to work the shift dress has everything you need!  Just remember one thing. A waist belt! It will pull you in and make you feel feminine and allow you to flaunt your curves!

For day: for a professional look, team with court shoes & a blazer – go for a bold colour to show your confidence.  For those warmer days, simply add a cardigan – you’ll still look professional.

For night: remove the blazer, add some sparkle and don’t forget the killer heels! The great thing is you can dare to bare your legs as the shift dress is a gorgeous length & not too revealing.
