Chrysanthemum Cushion

Chrysanthemum Cushion

There’s nothing quite like an array of cushions nestling for space on your favourite sofa or bed to create an atmosphere of luxury and comfort.

Cushions are an essential addition to every home. In fact, cushions are one of those rare items that really can transform a house into a home.

You can be really creative when choosing and arranging your cushions. Traditionally, you would have a few cushions, all covered with the same fabric, and arrange them very neatly around your furniture. Of course, these days anything goes. If you’re into shabby chic, then why not buy loads of clashing cushions and throw them all together for a messy yet homely look?

We’ve got quite a few delightful cushions in our soft furnishings range for you to enjoy here at Kaleidoscope.  For starters, here’s a lovely Chrysanthemum Cushion with has a great texture as well as a lovely colour. Its faux silk fabric is embossed with a large flower and the results are stunning. In fact, it’s already achieved five star reviews – and it’s on sale!

Now it’s time do the rumba – no, not the dance, the cushion! On a similarly floral note, the Rumba Cushion (which is also on sale!) is a stunning cushion with an oh so touchable raise flower on the front. It’s available in brown and green, so why not get a few of each for a really colourful effect?

Three-quarter Sleeve Shirt

Three-quarter Sleeve Shirt

Blouses and shirts make for perfect spring and summer wear, whether you’re looking for something to enjoy for work or play. They provide smart casual cool and, because the weather is warmer, you don’t need to cover them up with a heavy jumper as you would in the winter.

A classic crisp white shirt is a must in every woman’s wardrobe. So versatile and so timeless, you can wear it with black trousers and nude stilettos for work or with Capri pants, tied at the waist, for more relaxed times.

Our take on the white shirt is as stylish as you’d expect. This Three-quarter Sleeve Shirt is just so chic – and it’s currently on sale at 25% off. Complete with its own mock croc belt (a very on trend fabric) it flatters your form thanks to its fitted shape. Team with sunglasses and a glamorous outlook like our model.

No casual wardrobe is complete without an oversized blouse or shirt, especially now that leggings are back in fashion – the two look wonderful together. We love this Longline Blouse. Its adjustable sleeves are versatile as you can wear them long or short – perfect for days when you could end up doing anything, anywhere!

A special mention goes to our Heine Button Shirt. This is a pretty and feminine shirt blouse mix that is part of the Linea Tesini collection. Linea Tisini combines romance with wearability for an enduring everyday look, and this delightful shirt is a fine example of that.

For a limited time only we are offering standard delivery for just 99p! There’s no code to quote: just place your order and select standard delivery to take advantage of the 99p rate (see site for details).

It’s curtains for old-fashioned styles

Akita Lined Eyelet Curtains

Akita Lined Eyelet Curtains

It’s no wonder that so many of us are stuck in the past when it comes to curtains. Most of us grew up with curtains made from fabrics and adorned with fusty patterns. Decidedly mumsy – that’s what curtains always used to be like. Didn’t your mum (and her mum before her) always set great store by having an imposing pair of curtains in every room?

Whilst curtains like these are most handy for hiding behind whilst attempting to spy on the neighbours, they don’t really speak of modern, contemporary elegance. That’s party why so many people choose to have blinds instead of curtains – they look lighter, unfussier and brighter all round.

The good news is that you can achieve this breezy blind effect with curtains after all. Here at Kaleidoscope we’ve got lots of charming contemporary curtains for you to dress your windows in style. If you want to modernise your space – or add to its already contemporary vibe – then check out two of our favourites.

These Akita Lined Eyelet Curtains feature this season’s ’must have’ oriental inspired design. Their beautiful floral print comes in a range of fashionable colours. Light and gorgeous, these are a really contemporary choice.

Continuing the chic and contemporary feel are these Antoinette Standard Lined Curtains. Their bright floral design is very neat and given a fresh feel thanks to the neutral background, and there’s good news – these lovely curtains are on sale at 50% off!

For a limited time only we are offering standard delivery for just 99p! There’s no code to quote: just place your order and select standard delivery to take advantage of the 99p rate (see site for details).

Pave the way for your promotion at work

Three Piece Suit

Three Piece Suit

There’s nothing quite like the thrill of getting promoted at work for boosting your professional and personal confidence. It’s public recognition of the good work you’ve done as well as a notable thumbs-up from your manager that you’ve got the ability to take on more challenging responsibilities in your new role.

If you want to get promoted but haven’t managed it yet, don’t get dispirited. It’s never too late to show the people you work for that you’re capable of stepping up to the plate. All you need to do is show that you’re ready!

Take heed of the old adage “dress for the job you want, not the job that you have”. If you’re turning up for work in tatty old trousers and the same old top you’ve been wearing for years, then you’re not portraying the smart, “together” and professional appearance that’s appropriate and necessary for a manager. Invest in some smart new workwear like this Three Piece Suit (which is on sale, by the way!) and dress to impress instead.

Show that you’re prepared to take on extra work. Ask your manager if there is anything that you can do that is over and above your current remit. Make it known that you are there to help and go the extra mile whenever you can.

Know that it’s the little differences that can help to set you apart from the rest. A tidy desk signals a tidy mind; staying late once in a while can help people to realise how industrious you are. Both of these qualities will stand you in good stead when a promotion opportunity arises.

Spring into a lovely dress

Floral Print Dress

Floral Print Dress

Dresses really are a Spring wardrobe staple. Whether floaty, flowery or generally light and delightful, there’s something about a dress that really suits the season. Maybe it’s because they’re light and feminine, two qualities which seem in keeping with the season.

Spring dresses are also essential because they’re so practical. Pair with a blazer or cardigan, especially on rainy April days, safe in the knowledge that if the sun suddenly comes out you can take off your extra layer and enjoy the dress on its own.

If you’re thinking of updating your wardrobe with some key pieces for this season then do start by choosing a few new dresses. Think one for work, one for home, a couple of day-to-nights and one for fun!

We love this Floral Print Dress. In floaty chiffon, this dress really is perfect for Spring. It has flattering pleats along the front and waistband along with a delightfully swishy hemline to make you feel ultra-feminine.

The Floral Print Dress is very popular with you, too, and has attracted some rave four and five star reviews. How’s this for praise – Asitis from Scotland writes: “Bought this for a wedding. After three children my shape and size has changed, but in this dress I felt great. It enhanced and showed off my curves. I feel like I could be a bride again!”

Not only is this fabulous ladies’ dress one of our Stylist’s Favourites, it’s also on sale at 50% off! Need we say more?

Jewellery that’s just perfect

String of Pearls

String of Pearls

If you ever go out of the house of a morning and suddenly feel a bit naked, chances are it’s not your clothes that you’ve forgotten to put on but your jewellery. Most of us have a favourite necklace, ring or pair of earrings that we wear nearly every day. Forget to put them on one day and your neck (or finger, or wrist) can suddenly feel very cold and exposed!

Jewellery is a great way of adding the personal touch to any outfit as well as updating it or changing its feel or look. Try pairing your favourite dress, for example, with a few different necklaces and see how different the dress looks each time. Clever, no?

With that in mind, it’s important to keep your jewellery collection fresh and updated. In fact, treating yourself to a new pair of earrings, for example, is a quick, easy and cheap way to freshen up your whole wardrobe. Also, there’s nothing like new jewellery for making you feel a bit special.

No woman’s neckline should be without a string of pearls once in a while. This gorgeous String of Pearls is a single 120 cm row of genuine cultured freshwater pearls that will take you from day to night in classic style. This is a really classic choice that will look great with pretty much all of your outfits – even jeans and heels – and to put the icing on the cake they’re 25% off when you buy online!

If you’ve got a special occasion to attend, this Noemi Flower Ring is just what you need. A truly dramatic piece, it features Swarovski crystals and is rhodium plated. It’s sure to be a real talking point and looks especially great with a plain outfit, so that it can really stand out.

Mums of the world rejoice on Mothers’ Day

Woods of Windsor Lavender Talc Set

Woods of Windsor Lavender Talc Set

Mums are a hard-working bunch, aren’t they? They are always there for their children, whether it’s to cook them dinner or listen to their problems. And that’s on top of dealing with their own lives.

These days, mums are busier than ever before. Many mums have careers and do a full day’s work before coming home and caring for the family. How tiring! And how fitting that we should celebrate mums and all they do for us on Mothers’ Day.

There are various different explanations for the origins of Mothers’ Day. Some say it dates back to Ancient Greece. The saddest explanation we found was that it dates back to Victorian times, when children were sent away from the family home. They were allowed to spend one day a year with their parents (!), which was Mothers’ Day. Aren’t we glad that things have changed since then?

If you’re a daughter looking to treat your mum this Mothers’ Day, why not buy her a lovely present like this gorgeous Woods of Windsor Lavender Talc Set? Grab one quickly if you want it because it’s on sale, and choose our Next Day Delivery option to make sure your gift reaches its recipient on time.

If you’re taking Mum out for lunch and you want to make sure you’re dressed for the occasion, try teaming this Flower Trim Dress with a cute cardigan and a smart handbag.

If you’re a mother, you’ll be looking forward to receiving cute cards from your children and maybe even getting the chance to put your feet up. If your partner has told you that he’ll do the housework this Sunday, make sure he keeps his promise. As the day approaches, you may want to drop a few hints about how much you enjoy breakfast in bed!

Whatever you do this Mothers’ Day, have a wonderful time with your family.

Are you a jean genie?

Heine Rhinestone Detail Jeans

Heine Rhinestone Detail Jeans

Fashions come and fashions go, which is generally a good thing, especially when you think about wearing skin tight cycling shorts with big baggy T-shirts in the 80s. Looking like Mr Motivator is not sexy or flattering.

There is one item of clothing that we’ll always be able to rely on though. Jeans are here to stay and always have been since they were invented in 1866 by a certain Levi Strauss. In those days, it was just the cowboys of the world who enjoyed these hardwearing yet comfortable denim trousers. These days you don’t have to live in the Wild West to sport a snazzy pair of jeans.

We often get into a groove with our jeans, wearing and keeping the same pair for years. Once you find a pair of jeans that you love it can be hard to wrestle yourself away from them. But the styles and body shapes of women’s jeans do change over the years and it’s worth updating your jeans collection with at least one new pair a year.

Here at Kaleidoscope we are absolutely loving these Heine Rhinestone Detail Jeans. They’ve got fabulous rhinestones on the back along with a classic five pocket design – and they’re reduced in price from £45 to £32! Available in short and regular lengths, these are especially great for going out in. Worn with strappy heels and your favourite going out top, you’re sure to knock ‘em dead!

Bed down in style

Amber Bedlinen

Amber Bedlinen

When was the last time you treated yourself (or your bedroom) to some new bedding? A friend of the blog told us over the weekend that she was really looking forward to using her lovely new sheets. She had last bought herself some sheets eight years ago. Eight years ago! Some of our children have grown up and left home in all that time!

Maybe it’s one of those things that we forget about – bedding is literally part of the furniture. But we should all make sure to buy new bedding at least every couple of years or so.

Have a think about what kind of look and feel you want to create in your room. Do you want a relaxed, refined feel? Think about choosing white sheets with a faint or embossed design. If you want to add vibrancy and pizzazz to the room, go for bold prints and colours.

Floral jacquard is a bedlinen design favourite. Elegant and understated, it really is a timeless choice. You can see it put to excellent use in our Amber Bedlinen. The set is attracting rave reviews from happy Kaleidscope.co.uk shoppers. Helen JW writes: “Beautiful, soft, comfortable and washes like a dream.”

At completely the other end of the spectrum is this snazzy Safari Bedlinen. Amazingly, it’s on special offer. If you buy one Safari duvet set you will receive a second in the same size absolutely free. How’s that for animal magic?
